Travellers' tale
Article Abstract:
Travellers in the United Kingdom lack access to basic health services, which is reflected in their infant mortality rates and failure to finish immunisation programs. Children from traveller families are also more likely to suffer from infection due to poor sanitary arrangements. Changes in physicians' contracts have affected travellers' access to primary care, and there was reluctance among physicians to accept travellers as patients even prior to the reforms. Action is being taken by Save the Children, a charity, to remedy this situation, and continued pressure is needed for travellers to gain their rights.
