The aviation industry developed crew resource management (CRM) to reduce the occurrence of human errors and related air transportation accidents, which can also be successfully used in healthcare. If CRM's principles of reducing hierarchy, encouraging backup systems, and team communication and coordination are applied in healthcare setup, then it can achieve 53% reduction in adverse outcomes.
