Turkish physicians part of system of torture: study
Article Abstract:
Physicians for Human Rights report that many physicians in Turkey do not document evidence of torture of detainees. By Turkish law, all detainees are required to have a medical examination. But physicians often ignore or misrepresent evidence of torture, often because of intimidation by police. According to a survey of sixty physicians, 96% feel there is a problem with torture in Turkey. The Turkish medical Association has investigated allegations of physician complicity with torture, but few sanctions have been imposed.

Double vision: dissatisfaction with medicine and the desire to fulfill personal goals are among the reasons why physicians pursue dual careers
Article Abstract:
Dual-career physicians also pursue interests in writing, law and engineering. Many of these physicians find that two careers alleviate rather than increase their stress levels. Balancing two careers requires planning but most dual-career physicians enjoy the creativity of their days. Many female physicians have always had dual careers, doctor and mother. These part-time physicians also appreciate their full-time colleagues.
