Ultrasound-enhanced systemic thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine whether ultrasonography could safely enhance the thrombolytic activity of tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) by using transcranial Doppler, which is aimed at residual obstructive intracranial blood flow for helping thrombi to t-PA. The results revealed that in patients with acute ischemic stroke, continuous transcranial Doppler augments t-PA-induced arterial recanalization, with a nonsignificant trend toward an increased rate of recovery from stroke.

Stroke and neurovascular protection
Article Abstract:
Neurons are extremely sensitive cells whose function can be influenced by changes in their environment and they keep toxic calcium ions outside the cell but allow the cell membrane to transmit signals electrically. Local oxygen deprivation that occurs during leads to permanent injury of neurons by affecting the cells energy requirements, pump function, membrane integrity, or immediate environment.
