Understanding Peptic Ulcer Disease Pharmacotherapeutics
Article Abstract:
Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) affects as many as 10% of the people in the United States during their lifetime. It has been classified as an infection that causes chronic inflammatory condition of the stomach and duodenum, rather than excessive acid secretion due to stress, diet, smoking, alcohol and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Because it has been reclassified as an infection the management of PUD has improved.

Metabolic Complications of HIV Disease
Article Abstract:
Abnormalities in lipid metabolism are increasingly seen as part of HIV infection, especially since high cholesterol and triglyceride levels are usually produced by protease inhibitors used to treat AIDS. Clinicians should regularly screen HIV-positive patients for these abnormalities and therapy provided where appropriate.
