Understanding chronic fatigue
Article Abstract:
Chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CSE/ME) affects about 240,000 people in the United Kingdom, regardless of sex, age, social group or ethnicity. Its causes are unknown, its symptoms including overwhelming and persistent fatigue, migraines, aching joints and muscles, and sensitivity to light, noise and medication, and severely affected patients need special medical care and intensive nursing input.

Chronic fatigue syndrome is an umbrella term for a number of related conditions including myalgic encephalomyelitis/encephalopathy (ME), chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome and postviral fatigue syndrome. The causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome are presented.
