Early Detection of High Cholesterol Levels in Young Adults
Article Abstract:
All adults 20 years old or older should have their cholesterol levels checked every five years. A study published in 2000 showed that men under the age of 40 who had elevated cholesterol levels had an increased risk of dying from cardiovascular disease. Most of this risk occurred in men with cholesterol levels over 200. A 1994 survey found that one third of men between 20 and 34 years old had cholesterol levels over 200.
