Use of copper intrauterine devices and the risk of tubal infertility among nulligravid women
Article Abstract:
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) that contain copper do not increase the risk of infertility caused by blocked Fallopian tubes, according to a study of 1,895 women in Mexico City. Women who had used a copper IUD in the past were no more likely to be infertile than those who did not. However, those who were infected with Chlamydia trachomatis were more likely to be infertile.

Time to pardon the IUD?
Article Abstract:
Doctors should encourage women to use the copper T IUD because a study from Mexico City shows that this IUD does not cause infertility in women. Most American women stopped using IUDs after the Dalkon Shield controversy, but the copper IUD is still widely used in other countries.
