Using video for clients with severe learning disability
Article Abstract:
Video recordings of seven clients with severe learning disabilities were introduced at Denby House, Nottingham, England. The recordings were introduced to establish if nursing care had helped to initiate any improvements and to provide a record of clients' level of competency. The videos could be reviewed at length to work out appropriate nursing care. It was found some clients did not act naturally when being filmed. Obtaining consent from clients was difficult at times. All recording stopped if a client indicated they wanted it to cease.
