Vertical root fractures: clinical and radiographic diagnosis
Article Abstract:
People who have had a root canal treatment may be at risk of a vertical root fracture in the treated tooth. Of 36 patients who had a vertical root fracture in a tooth, in 34 the tooth had been treated with root canal treatment. The other two patients had a history of teeth grinding or clenching. Fractures can be caused by poorly fitting dowels or by overzealous treatment.
