What do you pay to work?
Article Abstract:
Many student nurses accumulate large debts, and find that these are difficult to pay off when they obtain employment. The starting salary for a nurse is only around 9,000 pounds sterling a year after tax and national insurance contributions, and there are many expenses to be met from this income. It is necessary to pay a fee of 36 pounds sterling to the UKCC, for example, and nurses may also choose to join the RCN, at a cost of 96 pounds sterling. In total, additional expenses may add up to 1,500 pounds sterling.
