What is the most effective blood thinner for treating patients with blood clots in the veins?
Article Abstract:
Some of the studies that compared low-molecular-weight heparin with unfractionated heparin did not use appropriate blood tests to accurately determine the proper dosage of either drug. For this reason, these studies may not be valid. These two types of heparin are used to treat people with abnormal blood clotting. Low-molecular-weight heparin is more convenient than unfractionated heparin but it is also about 10 times more expensive.
