Which peak flow meter?
Article Abstract:
An asthma clinic has compared the Mini Wright and Ferraris Pocket Peak Flow meters for asthma monitoring in a small study of patient preferences. Two random groups of patients participated of whom almost half were under 16. Group A comprised new asthma patients or those who had not routinely used a meter. Group B comprised regular patients already using a Mini Wright meter. Most patients from both groups preferred the Ferraris meter for ease of handling and use. Patients also preferred the higher flow reading provided by the Ferraris.

Asthma: peak flow meters
Article Abstract:
Peak flow meters can help patients with asthma to control their condition. The meter identifies the degree of lung function at any given moment, and enables the patient to change his her medication accordingly. Peak flow is measured in litre per minute (l m) and special paediatric or low-reading meters should be used on children and those with significant disease of the airways.
