Why I changed my mind about water fluoridation
Article Abstract:
A former advocate, a dentist and government official in New Zealand, has changed his mind about fluoridation of drinking water. He now feels that tooth mottling and other harm comes from fluoride added to drinking water. He went on a world study tour at the request of public service superiors in 1980, visiting only pro-fluoridation research centers and scientists. The superiors in New Zealand were worried by some new evidence that showed tooth decay was declining at the same rate with or without fluoridated water. The dentist found the same kind of data elsewhere. People try to protect pet theories, he found.

BIOLOGY, ECONOMICS, AND MODELS OF HUMANITY'S FUTURE: WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED SINCE MALTHUS?
Article Abstract:
Population growth models that do not incorporate human response are systematically flawed. History shows that human societies can be creatively adept at overcoming problems of survival, including resource scarcity. This adaptation, however, is contingent on human foresight, institutional response and short-term versus long-term economic costs, which are difficult to assess.
