Working for credit
Article Abstract:
Schemes are being developed in the UK to allow academic credit to be given for workplace education undertaken as part of clinical practice, followed by assessment, under the The ENB's Framework for Continuing Professional Education for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors. This framework offers a means of obtaining an academic and professional qualification. One method of putting this into practice is Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). Attending a course is not considered necessary if it can be proven that knowledge of subject matter has been acquired at work, eliminating any learning being duplicated. The implementation of the APL system is discussed.
