Young physician concerns with managed care grow
Article Abstract:
Members of the Young Physicians Section of the American Medical Assn (AMA) voiced several concerns about managed care at their annual meeting. They are concerned that they will be shut out of managed care networks. They objected to board certification being used as a measure of competence, and introduced a measure that would have the AMA oppose its use. In addition, they suggested that their inexperience could adversely affect their physician profiles by skewing the data. Finally, some physicians pointed to physician organizing as a useful tool in preserving their interests under managed care.
