The year 1999 was an important one for the multifaceted performer Steven Van Zandt, who released his fifth solo album that year, made his debut as an actor on the hit television series 'The Sopranos', and reunited with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on an extended world tour. Van Zandt is known for his political awareness, having organized Artists United Against Apartheid, which included such icons as Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, and Run-D.M.C.
