Wendy Kopp, founder and president of 'Teach for America', was born in Austin, Texas on June 29, 1967 and raised in a wealthy enclave of Dallas, Texas. A year after she earned her bachelorEs degree in 1989, she wanted to make a real difference in the world, hence founded Teach for America (TFA), a national corps of college graduates who agree to teach in some of the nation's academically poorest schools for two years.
