William Labov, Sociolinguist
Article Abstract:
William Labov, known as the father of sociolinguistics, has focused in his long and prestigious career on advancing the study of linguistics from a theoretical abstraction to a quantified science, making it possible to determine with certainty whether linguistic analyses are 'right or wrong'. Labov has held that Black English is actually a legitimate dialect with its own grammatical system and should therefore be treated as a foreign language in schools.

John Leo, Columnist and writer
Article Abstract:
Columnist and author John Leo describes himself as a moralist and a social conservative, and considers himself to be the founder of the anti-sensitivity movement. Leo believes that most Americans thoughtlessly or approvingly comply with, or fail to confront effectively and vigorously, a broad and serious assault on traditional Western culture that has lead to social disasters such as teen pregnancy, family breakup, and teen suicide.
