Article Abstract:
George Nakashima, the Japanese-American woodworker purchased the biggest and finest black walnut log and created Altars for Peace, the centers for meditation, prayer and peace endeavors which was installed at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. The peace altars according to him were concrete symbols, shaped by nature, aspiring to Divine, molded by human and dedicated to peace.

Roberto Clemente, a Puerto Rican player joined the Pittsburgh Pirate baseball team in 1955 and became four times National League batting champion, played in two World Series and received twelve Gold Gloves. Clement was the first player of Latin American descent to be inducted into he Hall of Fame and the first to get there without the customary five year post-retirement wait.
