Green builders look for committment
Article Abstract:
Home center stores need to research the market for environmentally sound construction materials and work with suppliers and consumers to correct the supply and demand imbalance that is depriving them of millions of dollars in sales. Many construction material suppliers do not carry environmentally-friendly materials because they incorrectly believe there is little demand or that they cost too much. Home center stores can work with both consumers to create a greater demand and with suppliers to carry more products.

Open a pre-hung door shop
Article Abstract:
Lumber yards are increasingly establishing pre-hung-door shops, according to Full House president Fred Braid. In comments at Hardware Wholesalers Inc's Oct 1996 market, Braid noted that such shops give yards more control over door quality and how quickly doors are produced. He said that a monthly volume of 80 exterior doors and 300-350 interior doors is needed to justify establishing an on-site shop. Full House produces door machines.
