Sac City, IA, was home to Clarence and Jessie Donnley in 1914. They ran a popcorn wagon and also served a relatively new 'invention' of the time: the ice cream cone. They had their picture taken and placed on a postcard which they gave to their customers.

Phyllis Bernard provided a photograph of her grandmother doing laundry near a lake in Barnum, MN. Her grandfather used to take washtubs to the lake and fill them and place them on a nearby woodstove. The illustration includes her mother as a young child.

Turn of the century nostalgia is represented by Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Ainsworth buying fruit trees in 1901 from an unidentified salesman. It was common for these men to travel from farm to farm to sell their goods.
