Houston bath designer Gay Fly remodeled her master bath by adding a three-foot shower stall at one end and expanding a walk-in closet by using part of the old shower stall. She retained the old toilet but put in an angled sink with cherry vanity cabinets for a quality look.

Finesse with finishes

Combining furniture finishes generates the most cozy atmosphere in personal rooms. It is also inexpensive, easy to copy, and lends more character to a room. In mixing finishes, complementary furniture must be used and room size must be considered in choosing the pieces.

A second floor bath is expanded into attic space and lighted with skylights. The extension provides storage and countertop space. Minimal work was done on drainage and pipe lines to keep costs down.
