Many houses in the southern US have retained the use of classical and revival architecture. Most Greek revival homes in the southern US usually feature entry porches. Designers suggest that entrance porches should clearly mark the front door and provide shelter.

Sheela and Francois Lampietti remodeled a 200-year-old farmhouse located in northwestern Virginia from ruins. A log wall with its original stone fireplace became the focal point of the dining room. The dining room table was constructed from salvaged beams.
