The boxes, trunks, suitcases and bandboxes that once traveled over oceans, prairies, and mountains are purchased in the 21st century to decorate a room, for use as storage containers, as a conversation piece, or to enhance the foot of a bed. These nostalgic pieces are compelling reminders of the past as luggage has come a long way from the stark wooden chests and hide-covered trunks of yesteryears.
