220 works death last year-Campaigners urge government to abandon 'deregulation fetish'
Article Abstract:
The provisional number of workers fatally injured in 2004/2005 was 220, a decrease of 7% from 2003/2004 when the finalized number of workers fatally injured was 236. The Health and Safety Executive's annual fatal statistics report states that new work at Height Regulations requires planning, competent people and selection of appropriate maintained equipment.
