An overview of health care in India
Article Abstract:
Efforts by the Indian government to adopt a liberalized market for health care and medical devices have brought about significant changes to the country's medical services industry. Although India lacks an efficient funding mechanism to help patients burden the cost of medical expenses, health care services are virtually inexpensive compared to medical rates offered in other countries. Growth in the sector would likely be spurred by the introduction of state-of-the art medical instruments and innovative technology.

Health services in the UK
Article Abstract:
Medical services in the UK are provided by the National Health Service and private medical practice. The National Health Service, which was set up in 1948 by a Labour government, provides free treatment for all but has, however, created problems which include an increase in the number of waiting lists. The private system, which is for acute phases of illnesses and elective treatment, may sometimes complement the State system. Payments for private medicine are made mostly via insurance.

Reforms - the password to the future
Article Abstract:
Portugal's public national health system, which is known as the National Health Service (NHS), is in need of reforms that will promote the delivery of high-quality service. According to the Commission for Health-Care Review, such reforms must address the organizational and structural deficiencies within the NHS. The review cited the adoption of an insurance system that is both compulsory and private as an alternative solution to the problems confronting Portugal's health care.
