Andrew Jones: personnel manager of the year 1992
Article Abstract:
Andrew Jones, human resources (HR) operations manager for motor distributors Lex Retail Group, is the first recepient of Personnel Management magazine's 'Personnel manager of the year' award. Jones was nominated for his active participation in the implementation of his organization's restructuring program. He bested other nominees because of his direct contribution in achieving corporate aims and objectives within a relatively short period of time despite limited resources. Three other nominees came close to winning the award. They were Carol Boroughs of the London Zoo, Hugh Billot of Sheerness Steel and Steve Rich of ICL. The competition is supported by the Institute of Personnel Management and has British Telecommunications PLC and the Forte group as sponsors.
