Can unions pick up the pieces?
Article Abstract:
Unions are in trouble today, but management should not write unions off. Unions have new potential constituencies in white collar workers and professionals. In addition, unions have experience in tactics that have proven effective for identifying and playing upon worker concerns. Managers who want to retain their recently acquired freedom from unions must use training programs and opinion surveys to keep in touch with worker needs and deal with problems before unions can enter the picture.
