Be wary of exporting pay strategies wholesale
Article Abstract:
A variable pay structure is one way to reward employees for good work. This reward system is based on the employee's performance and is different from the fixed-pay model in the sense that employees are encouraged to do better work each time. Variable pay structures are being adopted by many European companies and have seen favorable results. However, adopting the same strategies in some Asian countries may prove to be ineffective as many of these countries base their expectations on the fixed-pay model.
