Changing hands
Article Abstract:
A business purchase must be accompanied by a check on health and safety issues, which will prevent the new owner facing unwanted and unnecessary expense. UK employees are protected during the duration of a business transfer by the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations 1981, which states new employers must undertake to provide liability equal to the obligation previously provided by the past employer. Health and safety aspects of a new firm must be viewed as part of a risk by purchasers.
