Article Abstract:
Overall median compensation awards for victims of disability, race and sex discrimination increased from 1998 to 1999. Average awards for race and sex cases were up while average awards in disability cases were lower. A record award of 130,000 pounds sterling was made in a race discrimination case.

The Industrial Relations Service reports nine out of ten UK firms have revised their policies in efforts to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. The service surveyed 160 large and medium-sized groups from both the public and the private sectors.
