Article Abstract:

The rationale behind the adoption of a new bill by French parliament, that provides for collective bargaining on redundancies, thereby suspending for a period not exceeding 18 months, a number of articles in the social modernization law governing the redundancy procedure, has been furnished. The effect of this step on employers and employees has been assessed.

New act on collective redundancies

Article Abstract:

A new act on collective redundancies, in Poland, came into effect from March 2004 replacing the law that was in existence since 1989. The law uses the word collective dismissal when more than twenty employees from a company are dismissed at the same time but there are some rules governing the dismissal.

France: new disability legislation

Article Abstract:

The features of the new disability law proposed by the French government on 12th February 2005, are discussed. It increases the rights and benefits of disabled people while maintaining the 6 percent quota for employing disabled workers.
