Staff cuts hit health, customer service and security
Article Abstract:
A 1997 UK report indicated the negative effect downsizing had on customer service and security needs in the banking and finance industries. Bank staff layoffs led to a depressed workforce forced to work large amounts of overtime. Staff health problems increased in relation to these additional workplace stresses. Many employees indicated work measurement schemes were inaccurate and used to facilitate additional staff cuts.
