Employers' access to criminal records wil cause discrimination
Article Abstract:
Information about the new legislation in the United Kingdom allowing employers to view applicants criminal records is discussed. Opponents claim this legislation will raise levels of discrimination, whereas proponents of the legislation site analysis of 22,000 applications where fewer than 1 percent reveal criminal records, though home office statistics show that one in three men have a criminal conviction.

A review summary of the proposed recommendations by Denis Kingsmill CBE on non legislative and cost effective improvements to increase women's employment perspectives and participation in the United Kingdom are given. One suggestion is to allow claimants to obtain disclosure of comparative earnings without going to an employment tribunal.
