Environment watchdog names and shames worst polluters

The environment agency (EA) held the water industry responsible for more than one in six serious pollution incidents affecting water. EA will focus on the judiciary to make them realize the need for the more serious cases to be heard in the Crown Court, where unlimited fines can be imposed to the worst polluters.

The asbestos consultant, Peter Irvine, provides advice on the new duty to manage asbestos regulation that is due to come into force in less than a year. The new duty, Regulation 4 in the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002, would ensure that any asbestos is properly located, recorded and managed.
