Evaluating levels of strategic integration and development of human resource management in India
Article Abstract:
Research into the use of human resource management (HRM) departments within Indian business enterprises found that they have not been developed to any extent although some HRM does take place. Personnel managers were only found on the board of some 28.7% of the companies questioned. Line managers dealt with the majority of problems concerning workers such as industrial disputes, recruitment and they also determined wage levels. It is necessary for Indian companies to extend their use of HRM in order to compete with foreign businesses. The research was based on data from 137 questionaries.
