Firm-specific human capital and compensation-organizational tenure profiles: an archival analysis of salary data for IT professionals
Article Abstract:
The salary data of 2,251 IT professionals in Singapore were examined for determinants of IT compensation. Among the findings were: workers in IT jobs needing more firm-specific human capital got paid more than those that required less firm-specific human capital, and firm-specific human capital is a determinant of compensation and a moderator of IT compensation-organizational tenure profiles. Contributions to research, implications for practice and the limitations of the study are also given.
