Forging a Strong Link Between HRD and Performance Appraisal
Article Abstract:
The human resource development (HRD) professional, by appraising data company-wide, can pinpoint what is needed to improve job performance. A before-and-after indication of training results can then be made. Further training needs become evident as performance appraisals become more valid. Co-operation between the HRD function, the appraisal function, and the employees, leads to company- wide benefits.

Article Abstract:
Human resource development personnel require line manager support in order to be effective. Line managers must be educated by human resource development practioners on how to initiate personnel development. Employment of a positive strategy approach with line managers will increase the managers' support, and enhance the stature within the organization of human resource development.

Appraisal, Assessment and HRD

Ways of improving performance within an organization are presented. Appraisal, assessment and human resource development (HRD) all have the same goal, but must be better integrated. Training and development programs can help educate managers in the appraisal process.
