France: 2001 works council election results
Article Abstract:
The employment ministry recently published the results of the 2001 works council elections, at which a net drop was registered in the votes cast for non-union candidates as well as a fall in the participation rate. The analyses of the 2001 elections are highlighted, which reveal that each college had its own preferred union.

Chancellor delivers seventh Budget statement
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom's Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, gave his seventh Budget statement on April 9, 2003. The 2003 Budget was uneventful, relatively speaking, as many of the important measures stated in the 2002 statement only went into effect in 2003.
