HR at Inova reengineers recruitment process
Article Abstract:
Inova Health System was compelled to reengineer its recruitment process because its old facility-based decentralized recruitment program was rendered obsolete by the dramatic changes in the health care industry. The Falls Church, VA-based nonprofit health group also wanted to reduce its recruitment costs which was bloated due to duplicated efforts. The health-care system's HR department decided to streamline its recruitment process to increase the organization's effectiveness as a 10,000-person multifacility. Recruitment and employment policies were consolidated, while the applications and forms supporting these policies were redesigned. New policies were also introduced that addressed issues relevant to current Inova employees, such as internal transfers, employee reassignments and evaluation systems. The simplification of the hiring procedures enabled Inova to cut its number of applicants and interviews, and to increase internal hiring.
