Health care reform in the United States
Article Abstract:
Health care reform is a major concern for US companies given the skyrocketing costs of medical care. In 1996, the average annual cost of health care benefits per employee is placed at around $4,000. Universal health care reform has been abandoned by the Clinton administration, but incremental reforms continue. Employers themselves are pursuing cost management initiatives, such as promoting self-insurance of health care benefit plans and consolidating funding of plans operated by multiple operations.

Do medical benefit schemes in Singapore need a check-up?
Article Abstract:
Companies in Singapore have several options to keep their medical expenditures down in the face of rising health-care costs and an economic slowdown. Companies can choose the government-formulated Alternative Medical Benefits Scheme, or they can decide on a co-payment structure. Whichever they choose, it is imperative for companies to evaluate their medical benefit schemes immediately to ensure adequate health coverage and at the same time a healthy bottom line.

Health care demand management - how to reduce health care costs and feel better
Article Abstract:
Rising health care costs necessitate reforms in present health care systems. One such reform involves cutting down the demand for health care. This is best implemented by establishing five-step demand management programs that reduce the need for health care. Such programs can be instituted one level at a time, with each level delivering positive results and significant cost savings.
