How Courtaulds find graduates a material factor
Article Abstract:
Demographic changes in the UK have led to a fierce competition among companies in the recruitment of graduates. Courtaulds PLC, a diversified company of 17 business groups and a major employer of graduates, uses a recruitment process combining centralized and decentralized approaches. A central team gathers information of the requirements of the individual businesses and presents them to students at various recruitment forums. To avoid recruiting over-qualified people, the company is developing in-house detailed information of requisite skills and competencies required by each businesses' jobs to improve the candidate matching process. Additionally, the company redesigned its application form, monitors the development of individual employees for the purpose of career management, and is developing links with educational institutions.
