International equity market integration: efficiency and predictability
Article Abstract:
Insight into the behavior of international equity markets is presented and their conformity to the efficiency hypotheses of modern finance is examined. The historical correlation of the international markets and the possibility of predicting international returns is also investigated. Betas for individual markets and the world market overall are computed using the market model. While the integration of the international equity market does not do away with political uncertainties, it does allow global-minded investors to spread the risks they take so that substantial gains can be enjoyed.

Final SEC proxy disclosure rules
Article Abstract:
The SEC has revised the rules governing the disclosure of executive compensation in proxy and registration statements and other federal securities law filings. This development gives companies the opportunity to improve stockholder relations. The rules clarify and shorten the manner by which executive compensation arrangements for publicly held companies are presented. They also make directors more accountable to shareholders through required formal statements of the reasons for compensation levels and other executive benefits.

The ESOP as an employee benefit: its impact on firm value
Article Abstract:
A study of the employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) has revealed that the kind implemented can be a positive addition to the value of a company. ESOPs have been one of the fastest employee benefits to develop. The study has found that publicly held ESOP firms were viewed favorably as indicated by common share prices. Tax credit ESOPs had minimal and mixed results which give credence to Congress' repeal of the plans in 1986. Classic and leveraged ESOPs on the other hand, have long-term and positive influences on firm value.
