Lorraine Trainer
Article Abstract:
Lorraine Trainer, head of human resources at the International Stock Exchange since early 1990, started her career as a general banking trainee at Citibank in the UK. Trainer soon moved into personnel at Citibank, where she gained experience in compensation, training, and communication. Dealing with the effects of the dismissals that resulted from the reorganization at the International Stock Exchange may be the most difficult task facing Trainer. She believes it is important to work with people who have been dismissed to give them some dignity and assistance in finding new jobs. For remaining employees, it is necessary to create a long-term vision of the future, making sure to communicate the vision clearly, frequently, and consistently.
