Managing human resources in information technology: best practices of high-performing supervisors
Article Abstract:
Interviews with high-performing IT supervisors and focus group discussions with IT workers were conducted and then content-analyzed in search for the best supervisory practices. The best practices are categorized into two: task-focused (boundary spanning, performance management, employee involvement, training and development) and person-focused (relationship building, mentoring, stress management, work-family balance) practices. The outcome of the analysis show that effective leadership practices used for non IT professionals are also appropriate for IT workers and they can be customized to suit unique IT demands.

Managing workforce diversity at IBM: a global HR topic that has arrived
Article Abstract:
A business that intends to be successful must have an unyielding commitment to ensure that workforce diversity is part of its day-to-day business conduct. IBM has embraced workforce diversity as a fundamental issue. The company insists on a workplace that is free of discrimination and harassment so that people can contribute at the highest possible level.
