Parental leave cut-off to Europe
Article Abstract:
R v. Secretary of State for Trade and Industry ex parte Trades Union Congress is a review of UK implementation of the EU Directive on family leave. The Trades Union Congress and others argued that the UK did not honor the directive by refusing leave to parents with children when the directive was implemented. Over 2.5 million parents were excluded under the UK wording of the law.

Doctor's careers blocked by discrimination
Article Abstract:
The British Medical Association (BMA) has published research which reveals that there is widespread discrimination in the NHS (NAtional Health Service). Doctors are being discriminated because of their gender, race and sexual orientation and their career prospects blighted. The key recommendations made by the BMA are presented.

British speech therapists received retroactive compensation following the settlement between UK Dept of Health and the MSF regarding the right to equal pay for work of equal value. Additional information on the labor case brought under the Equal Pay Act is also included.
