RSI: prevention and cure in the office environment
Article Abstract:
Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is encountered in the office where video display terminals are used, the problem manifesting itself as pain in the wrist, forearm, elbow, shoulder, neck and back. The first way to alleviate the problem is to remove bonus schemes and machine pacing designed to encourage people to work hard. Job design and work organisation, education and training, assessment of hardware and environment, and assessment of software are the main areas where preventative measures should be sought.
