Options in career paths
Article Abstract:
Multidirectional career pathing (MDCP) is a career planning model. The traditional career path is defined by upward movement. MDCP allows for career paths with different directions. It is based on the idea that moving across or down within an organization can be advantageous because it is what an employee or the company needs. People are given credits which can be used to receive training in another area of the company for each year of employment. Downward moves, a manager returning to research as an example, can also be accommodated. Benefits, compensation, and prerequisites must be analyzed before moves are made. MDCP should reduce employee lethargy and improve motivation if it is supported.

Expert support environments (personnel computing)
Article Abstract:
An expert support environment (ESE), which is an automated environment that queries a human user for information, recommends courses of action, and presents solutions to a user, is a new technological environment that can be used in personnel management. An ESE is helpful because it can help to increase the productivity and reliability of human employees by utilizing automated processes instead of human skills. When developing an ESE, it is important to consider what ESE subsystems to integrate into the ESE, as well as to make certain that the ESE delivers concrete and practical results, such as policy guidelines and paychecks.
