Rethinking the costs of expatriate renumeration: the time for international flex has come
Article Abstract:
Expatriate administration is characterized by the conflicting goals inherent in the process. The process can be made more efficient and cost-effective by minimizing or avoiding such goal conflicts. The flexible/regional approach offers advantages for expatriate administration since it provides those involved in the project an element of choice. Since the cost of maintaining international employees in another country is more expensive than hiring a local counterpart, it is worthwhile to explore the advanages of the flexible/regional approach.
